Luz Villamil

Luz Salem Villamil oversees partnerships and business development at Cinema Akil, and is the creator of Alternativo Latino, the UAE’s first Latin American Film Week. A self-identifying third culture kid, Villamil was born in Bogota to a Palestinian father and Colombian mother, raised in Fujairah and now lives and works in Dubai. She holds more than 11 years’ experience in media, production and film in the UAE and started her career developing the BBC Middle East Business Report in 2008, upon graduation from the American University of Sharjah. She currently sits on the jury of the 10th Zayed University Middle East Film Festival (ZUMEFF) 2019 and is a recurring guest on Dubai Eye 103.8 FM on the Reel Review talking all things Cinema Akil.
